Dog tags!!

No matter what your race, creed, color, social, economic status or political background, rather you live in the big city, suburbs or a rural community, rather you’ve chosen to live in a mansion, penthouse or government assisted housing, we have all at some instances been ask to identify ourselves with some form of legal and acceptable form of identification.

Be it your financial institution , the passport office, the airport agent or the flashing blue lights of a police car pulling you over.

The world and many times internally we are all asking the same question no matter where you live on the planet!

That question we ask ourselves is Who am I?

At first glance, it appears to be an very simple question that when asked we respond to by sharing our given name, physical address, occupation, maybe our gender or our relationship status of being single, married, divorced or widowed. But without us looking further and digging deeper, leaving the surface level of this question, many find themselves living out a life that is less than God’s original intent and purpose for their lives.

True purpose is lived out of true identity; and you can’t have one without the other. No one can immerse themselves into a bathtub, swimming pool or the ocean without getting wet! The wet comes with the water. None of us can truly fulfill the plan that God has for us without first understanding who we are, Our true identity.

Unfortunately the world, the devil, and even our past can try to define us and tell us who we are, I would like to submit to and challenge you to allow God the one who actually created you and placed you on the planet to answer that question for you.

You are who He says you are, you can accomplish what He has destined for you to accomplish , and because of your In- Christ status you have an rich inheritance that you’re able to access by faith. To further drive this point of understanding your true identity, I’d like to use the example of military dog tags. What are military dog tags? They are small metal tags that are worn by soldiers in the military that identify who they are along with other pertinent information like their military ID number and blood type, other vital information can also be placed on the metal tags that can identify them in case of injury or death, They were first worn by soldiers in the Civil War and the then became popular during World War 2 , when soldiers said they were treated like dogs. dog tags are vitally important especially for those who are deployed into military combat zones. I love this analogy because it perfectly illustrates and captures the similarities of our lives as Christ followers! We have an identity in Christ, we have been tagged with the Holy Spirit and God desires to deploy us into active combat zones, very often we’re deployed into the market place, ministry, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.

We all have been chosen by God and given an assignment to fulfill , if you are on the planet, God has something that He wants to partner with you to accomplish for the primary purpose of fulfilling the “ great commission” Matthew 28:19 “ go and make disciples of all nations”

Before our deployment our identities must be confirmed! Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. [Exod. 33:12; Isa. 49:1, 5; Rom. 8:29.]”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Have you allowed God to reveal to you who you really are? Are you wearing your dog tags ?

Pray this simple prayer: Lord reveal to me who you have made me to be , and through the power of your Holy Spirit please help me to accomplish your will, purpose and destiny for my life.

I ask this all in Jesus name . Amen
